Since 2001, Officer Jeff Toth, in cooperation with The Austintown Local School District, Austintown Police Department, Austintown Trustees and the Attorney General of the State of Ohio has been teaching the D.A.R.E. curriculum to students in grades kindergarten, first, third, fifth, seventh and tenth. This repetitive contact reaches around 3,000 children yearly. Over 400 students have graduated from the program for a total of approximately 2,500 since the program started. Graduations are for completion of the core curriculum which is during the 5th grade in Austintown Middle and Frank Ohl Middle Schools; and 6th grade at St. Joseph's & Immaculate Heart of Mary Schools. The first Austintown students to participate in the DARE program will be graduating next year from Fitch High School.
In addition to the drugs and violence prevention, DARE in AustintownAustintown Police Patch presents the police officer in a helping role - " I want to keep kids out of trouble & safe; learning to make good decisions so that they grow up as
adults that know how to make good decisions".  To view our local school DARE web site click here. For more information you can email Officer Toth
