Recycling

Austintown Recycling Austintown has the largest drop-off recycling location in Mahoning County.
Thanks to you we have recycled 1,606,950 pounds during 2006 an increase of almost 25% over 1,287,207 pounds in 2005. The Raccoon Rd. location is the Counties single largest recycling site with 1,370,302 pounds dropped off which is just under twice as much as the next largest single location. Notice from Mahoning County Green Team effective April 3, 2008 on the acceptance of the following materials at Curbside and Drop-off Recycling Sites:
Paper Copier paper, colored paper, bar paper, business cards, carbonless blue prints, post board, envelopes, file folders, magazines, shredded paper, catalogues, greeting cards, soft back books, newspapers, mail inserts, paper trimmings, green bar paper and coated paper. NO HARD-BACK BOOKS.
Plastic
  1. Clear containers typically used for soft drinks and bottled water;
  2. Colored or translucent plastic typically used for milk or juice containers. NO MILK CARTONS OR JUICE BOXES;
  3. Typically for clear food packages;
  4. Typically for squeezable bottles and bread bags. PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS – YES;
  5. Typically for catsup bottles, yogurt containers, margarine tubs and medicine bottles;
  6. Typically used for CD cases, aspirin bottles and cups, plates and cutlery;
  7. Typically used for shampoo bottles and similar containers;
Metal Food and beverage cans;
Glass Bottles Clear, brown and green. NO WINDOW GLASS OR GLASSES
NO STYROFOAM PACKING PEANUTS OR CHUNKS
